The 5 Lessons A Millionaire Taught Me for Women About Life and Wealth by Richard Paul Evans is short, sweet and filled with financial pearls of wisdom. Commonsense advice, valuable resources and motivational quotations make this little book a must read for any women ready for financial success.
Truthfully, I am always a little skeptical about men writing books aimed at women. I was happy to realize that Richard Paul Evans was inspired to write this book based on the advice he gave his niece and the lessons from his first book The 5 Lessons A Millionaire Taught Me About Life and Wealth. He uses the same five keys as the first book but adds tips, statistics and examples aimed at women and our specific financial needs. I read the original 5 Lessons and still wanted to read this one because it was specifically geared toward women. The 5 Lessons A Millionaire Taught Me for Women About Life and Wealth didn’t disappoint!
This book is a quick read – 118 pages of how-tos and about 60 pages of resources. Just because it is small doesn’t mean it isn’t filled with valuable and useful information. Each page contains at least one nugget of wisdom to help get our financial house in order and steer us on the path of greater financial self-sufficiency.
There is something for every woman in The 5 Lessons A Millionaire Taught Me for Women About Life and Wealth, no matter how financially savvy you may be. These five keys are practical wealth building ideas that we should never grow weary of reading and applying in our lives.
My favorite key is Lesson Four: Win In the Margins. “The wealthy find additional ways to add to their growing nest egg.” Included in this lesson are four valuable mind-sets:
1. Carefully consider each expenditure – includes the money saving seven golden words
2. Freedom and power are better than momentarily pleasure
3. Not equating spending with happiness
4. Protecting the nest egg.
I also appreciate the wonderful success stories of women, just like us, who set goals and gained control of their finances to grow a dream into a success business. I love a good success story! I particularly enjoyed the story of Debbie Fields of Mrs. Field’s Cookies.
This little book is a reminder to all of us that commonsense and money should always go hand-in-hand. The 5 lessons A Millionaire Taught Me About Life and Wealth for Women by Richard Paul Evans has quickly become one of my favorite financial books.
